22 long rifle is one of the most popular cartridges in existence. The difference between the two, is that the firing pin or striker hits the rim to detonate the gunpowder in a rimfire cartridge, whereas it hits the middle (called a primer) in the centerfire cartridge. 22 micro-mag and the 5.7X28 are centerfires.

22TCM (Tuason Craig Magnum), otherwise known as. 22 cartridges with modern applications and firearms shooting them. I suppose a short introduction on the different types of cartridges should be presented, since I speak of both here in this article.įirst, I mention a total of four different. Of course, I’m talking about long rifle cartridges here, because TCM and Magnums do produce more of a muzzle blast–even if they do still recoil lighter.Īnother reason why I feel like everyone should own at least one 22 handgun, is because they’re a lot of fun at the range, and relatively cheap to shoot (depending on the ammo, as we’ll see in a few moments). So, it helps to build confidence in ability, and to not be afraid of the gun. It’s easier for them to learn to shoot a handgun that recoils light and doesn’t produce a large blast when the trigger is squeezed. First, a 22 pistol is perfect for when a shooter is starting out, just learning. There are many reasons why one would want to own a pistol chambered in one of the many 22 cartridges. Why? Well, why not? More than that, though, technology has come pretty far and some of these guns can even be recommended for self-defense use by some folks because the cartridges are hot with mild recoil. 22 pistols, that aren’t just long rifle, but also other cartridges. So, I’ve decided to put together a list for the best. 22LR (long rifle).įor some reason, people seem to forget that there are more chamberings than just long rifle twenty-twos, a lot more.įor example, which is the best. There are a lot of these “best 22 pistol” articles out there on the interwebs, but most of them fail to realize one simple truth: There are plenty of guns that deserve to be listed that aren’t chambered in. Gonna have to wait till We can test some S&W'sSadly, all double action revolvers are crap thanks to the lawyers.!!! No matter what you buy, you will have to spend some extra money with a good gunsmith to get the pull smooth and at a realistic weight. Charter Arms had perfect trigger and hammer pull, but didn't like the feel of the gun. The Taurus felt just right, but real heavy trigger and hammer pull. which I'd prefer cause I'm gonna wind up with it after she graduates to something bigger. I looked at the Taurus 94 and a Charter Arms today. But at 16 she is just in adult category so it was just more for fun. Pretty good for only practicing three times before entering. How did she do in the Quigley shoot this year? Before long, she will want to attend Winterfest. go ahead and spend the big bucks for the Quigley rifle.
